11 Months Old

Santiago is 11 months old today. In just one more month our baby boy will be one year old! Crazy how fast time flies! I went back to work today after winter break and saw my class picture from last year that was taken in January. My belly was huge at this time last year and we were anxiously waiting the arrival of our sweet baby. We didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl but I always called him "my hiccup man" because he got the hiccups 2-3 times inside me a day. Now I really do have that hiccup man and everytime he hiccups I remember that wierd but great feeling of the inside hiccups. Here's what my little hiccup man is up to these days:

  • Wears size 4 diapers and size 18 months clothes - some 24 months.

  • Wears a size 6.5 W shoe

  • Weighs around 27 pounds and is probably around 31 inches long.
  • Eats 3 solid meals a day, 1-2 snacks and nurses 3 times. He is getting less and less interested in nursing and is beginning to wean himself. My goal was to breastfeed for the first year so we are almost there.
  • Doesn't like baby food much anymore so he eats a lot of the same foods we eat.
  • LOVES fruit of all kinds
  • Waves a lot to people, himself in the mirror, our dogs, and even me sometimes when he is nursing!
  • Can clap his hands.
  • Puts both hands in the air to make the "touchdown" signal.
  • Understands everything you ask him or tell him. He will go get things for you and take you places in the house that you ask him to go to like the bathtub, his room, to see Jager outside, to get a ball, etc.
  • Dances to music - especially the "Hot Dog" song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show on the Disney Channel.
  • Crawls everywhere.
  • Cruises around furniture.
  • Leads you around the house by holding on to your hand or both hands.
  • Walks short distances alone.
  • Laughs hysterically when you pretend you are going to get him (chase after him)
  • Is very ticklish on his feet and back.
  • Can find your belly button, nose, and teeth.
  • LOVES ice.
  • Likes to try to put his own spoon or fork in his mouth and has accomplished this a couple times.
  • Is very curious about everything.
  • Warms up to strangers pretty quickly now - he used to be pretty shy or scared.
  • Opens cabinets and drawers and takes everything out.
  • Loves to stick his hand in water and splash it around including Roxie's water bowl and the toilet if we forget to put the lid down.
  • Talks constantly and sounds as if he is speaking a foreign language.
  • Can say "mama" and "dada" in a meaningful way.
  • Loves to stand or sit at the back glass door and look outside and kiss the window.
  • Sticks his hands out the doggy door to open and close it. Luckily it is a small doggy door so he would never fit in it if he tried.

I haven't had the chance to take his 11 month pictures yet so I will be adding them to this post later!
