A Chapter Closed
In August of 2007 I started my graduate program with the University of Texas at Arlington for my Masters of Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy. I started off with the goal to graduate in two school years and it took me an extra semester but I finally did it. Becoming pregnant, having a baby, and then Santiago's surgery pushed things back but he was an excellent reason to slow my studies down a bit. I finished the program by turning in my last project last night and I will be receiving my degree this month. I am unable to attend graduation so I will not get to walk the stage and wear a cap and gown but that's ok. UTA's education graduation is being held on a Monday evening in Arlington and since I am teaching full time and have a family - it is just not reasonable to go. I am very excited to be finished and to be able to enjoy Hector and Santiago every day without having to devote time to studying anymore. No more late nights on the computer for me working on projects or reading. Yippee! I still need to take my certification exam for Reading Specialist but that will come later. For now, I am thrilled to be a wife, a mother, and a teacher and no longer a student.

Yay for you! Congratulations on all your hard work. We are going through similar issues since the day after we brought Riley home from the hospital Patrick resigned from the National guard but then decided he should fill that time by starting on his MBA. Not like a new baby would fill that time or anything:) Poor guy is up every night until all hours and will be finishing his first semester on Saturday, hope we can make it work another year and a half. Be proud because as the momma in this situation, I know I couldn't focus my time to do school right now!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Katie! That is so wonderful :)
