Fun Day at the Park

Monday was MLK day and Hector and I both had the day off from work. We consider ourselves very blessed to have the same days off from work since we both are teachers. These days off have been extra special for the last year since we get to spend them with our son. Hector also was glad to have the day off to let his body recuperate from his big run on Sunday. He didn't really seem to need the day to recuperate because he was feeling pretty good. His feet hurt a little but he definitely wasn't as sore as I thought he would be after running so far. He is in great shape! So with our day off we took Santiago to the park to play. We picked up Chick-fil-a and had a little picnic there and then had a lot of fun together. Santiago got to swing and crawl through tunnels.
At first he was a little apprehensive about going through the tunnel by himself but when Hector and I split up and waited for him at each end he had no problem going back and forth to mommy and daddy.
Hector helped him go down the slide and Santiago loved it. He wanted to do it over and over again.
I know our future holds many trips to parks and I know they will all be a lot of fun. We had a blast just being together as a family and watching the excitement on Santiago's face as he experienced all the new things was priceless. He gets so proud of himself when he does something new and I just love that about him.
