Easter Festivities

We had an amazing Easter weekend and I hope you all did too!  It was so nice to have Good Friday off work to spend with Santiago and Hector and to have a three day weekend.  On Saturday we went to a nearby elementary school where a church was hosting a big Easter event with an egg hunt.  It was hot but we had a great time.
Here's Santi climbing through a tunnel on one of their playgrounds.  Notice his tongue is hanging out....
When it was time for the egg hunt we went to the 2 and under section and Santiago was very excited to get started.  Along with eggs scattered all over the ground, they also had a few plastic toys laying around.  Santi had his eye on a toy waverunner but I didn't want him to get his hopes up to have it and then someone else grab it first.  I told him that if someone beat him to it that we had to let them have it.
I also was trying to convince Santiago that he needed to pick up as many eggs as possible and when the hunt was over we could look inside each egg.  During our little egg hunt at the lake he wanted to open each egg as he found it!   When they blew the horn to signal the beginning of the egg hunt, we quickly made our way in the mob of kids and parents.  Santiago went quickly to the waverunner toy and looked up at me as if he was asking if it was ok to grab it.  I told him YES and he picked it up.
He then started picking up some eggs around us. He wanted to open them as he went so my little pep talk didn't do any good!

Before I could realize it, all the eggs were gone. I was trying to tell him to pick up each egg we came to because after all it was a hunt for little kids but little did I know the other parents were filling their tiny children's baskets up as quick as theycould. Before I knew it, in a matter of a couple of minutes, the egg hunt was over and Santi only got 6 eggs!
Luckily it didn't phase him at all to only have gotten a few eggs.  He had fun so we moved on to some of the other festivities on the school grounds.
Santi got to climb inside an ambulance! He loves all kinds of rescue vehicles right now so this was right up his alley!
After our fun time at the Easter Festival, we headed to McDonalds for some lunch and ice cream and then went home for a much needed nap.  I'm not sure who needed it more, the preggo momma or Santiago! After our nap, we went to Nana and Dah's house to dye Easter eggs and fill cascarones (confetti eggs).

Easter morning came quickly and Santiago got to wake up to his Easter basket of goodies from the Easter bunny.  Luckily he slept well through the night because at bedtime I was talking to him about how the Easter Bunny was going to come visit and he kept asking me to close his door.  He didn't want the Bunny to come to his room as he slept and Hector and I both thought I scared him talking about the bunny!
The Easter Bunny also brought him a T-ball set for the backyard! He was super excited about it.
Easter morning we ate breakfast from Taco Cabana, went to Easter mass, and then came home to eat a fabulous Easter lunch at our house and hang out in the backyard.  Hector's mom made fried chicken and potato salad and Hector made pulled pork, coleslaw, and a three corn cornbread.  Bianca, Matt, Travis, Nana, Dah, and Dah's friend Pete joined us in our Easter celebration.  We had a great time hanging out, talking, having cascarones smashed on our heads by Santiago, and watching Santiago play with his Tball set, ride his tractor and hunt for more eggs.

Happy Easter from our family to yours!
